Is Confession Good?

You probably have heard that phrase, 'confession is good for the soul'?  It really is true if it is straight from the heart and honest.  The Bible says to 'not let the sun go down on your wrath', in other words take care of any problems before you go to sleep at night, if there are any hard feelings or whatever they might be that caused us to be angry.

There is an anger that is called righteous indignation and I have had that two or three times when I felt that God was being defamed or made fun of.  I don't like that one bit and it flares up my anger like nothing else can, but it happens rarely.

There is an anger that is not righteous at all and that is the kind that needs confessed.  My husband was raised with an angry father.  I don't know why he was angry but he took it out on every one until he was pretty old.  I hope that he was able to deal with it in Christ's name before he passed away, it caused him to be very miserable.

My husband came by the problem quite naturally and he was able to get angry pretty quick and consequently I picked up on it to some extent.  If you live with an angry person, you naturally want to deal with it the same way but that is not Christ's way.  There are so many things to learn in this life and the reason I am sharing these things with you is so you can deal with them differently.  Anger breeds anger the same as any other sin breeds its own kind.

Confession is good for the soul, and I have learned that admitting that I am wrong is good for my soul and my husband and I never went to sleep angry with each other, we always made sure that things were made right for that day.

1 John 1:9  "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

He is faithful to forgive us and I am so thankful for that and that He has told us to not let the sun go down on our anger, but to confess them and accept His forgiveness.

What a wonderful God we serve!!  Are you afraid to confess your faults to one another, it is good for the soul and also good for your health and happiness.  Wishing you lots of good health and happiness.  Give your anger to Him who will take it and cast it in the depths of the sea to be remember no more.  Grandma Joan
