Lean Not on Your Own Understanding

There are many, many beliefs in this world, how do you know what truth is and what is false? The first thing we should do is, ask God to show us truth as we read His word.  Take the word as it reads and do not try to make it say something that it isn't saying.  Many people take a portion of a verse and make a doctrine out of it.  If we stick to the word as it reads, we will not have difficulty understanding the meaning of it, God is faithful to answer the petitioner's prayer for understanding, Trust Him.

Proverbs  3:5-7  "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.  Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the Lord, and depart from evil."

Psalm 37:3  "Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shall thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shall be fed."

Psalm 37:5  "Commit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass."

Psalm 118:8  "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man."

Isaiah 26:4  "Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength:"

Isaiah 50:10  "Who is among you that fears the Lord, that obeys the voice of his servant , that walks in darkness, and has no light?  Let him trust in the name of the Lord, and stay upon his God."

Special Promises to Those Who Trust Him

Psalm 31:19  "Oh how great is Thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up for them that fear Thee; which Thou has wrought for them that trust in Thee before the sons of men!"  ( fear meaning reverence)

Psalm 32:10 "Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but he that trusts in the Lord, mercy shall compass him about."

Psalm 34:22  "The Lord redeems the soul of His servants: and none of them that trust in Him shall be desolate."

Psalm 125:1  "They that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever."

Psalm 29:25  "The fear of man brings a snare: but whoso puts his trust in the Lord shall be safe."

Isaiah 26:3  "Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee."

Perfect Peace.  Is there anything better than that perfect peace, when you know everything is right between you and God and your life is in His hands.  When studying His word, you can have perfect peace too, knowing that He is guiding you and strengthening you so that you can submit your will in His will as you study and see things in your life that need changing.  If we reverence man's word against God's word, we will be tripped  up.  If we reverence God's word against man's word we will be safe.  So let's be safe and trust Him to guide us through this life.  I need this kind of trust, don't you?

Let's not lean on our own understanding but trust Him totally and He will guide us safely into His kingdom.  Grandma Joan
