The Indweller

Have you ever thought about someone dwelling in you?  In our way of thinking, it sounds different, doesn't it but to tell you the truth it is a supernatural experience that we need, to function as a really, truly Christian.  In Ephesians 3:19 it says that 'we may be filled with the fullness of God.'  Do we take God at His word or do we think it is foolishness?  I am thinking that life is full of choices, especially the Christian life, so we have a choice here, don't we?

The promises of the Indweller are several.  Let's check them out.  I think we will be surprised and honored with His presence as we study this morning.

Ezekiel 26:27  "And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statues, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them."  This is a great promise from God.

John 14:17  Even the Spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him, but ye know Him, for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."  Another great promise that we can know Him because He dwells with us and in us.

Romans 8:9  "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.  Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His."  See how important it is to have the Spirit dwelling in us?  It is really a life or death matter.

1 Corinthians 3:16  "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
It is very important to keep His temple clean from all impurities, our mind and body, so that He may dwell in us.

It is a common thing to eat what we want, think what we want and do what we want without a thought of what it is doing to our Christian walk or to the One who loves us and has made it possible for us to have a happy Christian life.  It is possible for us to resist the Spirit's calling on our lives until we don't hear it anymore and then we live in a peace that isn't real and we will never have a contented Christian experience.  This is what God is bringing to my mind at this moment and I pray that it will sink in and I will cooperate with the Spirit and be a happy, healthy, contented Christian.  How about you?  Is He calling you to cooperate with Him and allow the Spirit to dwell in you?  I know He is because He doesn't leave anyone out, He loves us all and wants us all to walk with Him side by side right into His heavenly kingdom.  Are you willing to be filled?  Ask God to make you willing to be willing.  He will do it and the reward is out of this world, literally.  Grandma Joan.
