Encouragement For Your Walk With God.

I don't want to be a source of discouragement to anyone, so let me be a source of encouragement to you today.  I know we need encouragement a lot, at least I do and I am always seeking some encouragement from God's word, something to push me on in my search for truth.  So let's receive some encouragement this morning as we delve into the Scriptures for help.

Psalms 19:8  "The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;  The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes."  His word will rejoice our hearts and His commandments are pure and will enlighten our understanding.  That's encouraging.

Psalms 119:11  "Your word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against You."  This is the way to know right from wrong and get rid of the wrong by hiding His word in our hearts.  Encouraging too.

Psalms 19:7  "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple."  God's law is perfect, and converts us to His way of life and it also makes us wise unto salvation.  Very encouraging.

Psalms 119:42  "So shall I have an answer for him who reproaches me, for I trust in Your word."  We have the promise that when someone comes to us with questions about our beliefs, we will have an answer for them because we have been in His word and trust it.  Encouraging too.

Ephesians 5:26 speaking of the church, and the church is made up of people seeking truth and living for Him who died for them.  "That He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by His word."
We become sanctified by His word, so that probably is the most encouraging of all.  Sanctification is the work of a lifetime and so we need to spend some part of each day in His word and let the word sanctify us.

Hebrews 4:12  "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."  The first few verses of John tell us that Jesus is the Word, so we can understand how the Word is living and powerful and a discerner of our thoughts and the intents of our hearts.

Are you encouraged, I am to know that all heaven is out to save us and help us on our upward journey.  It sounds hard and the way seems thorny but it really isn't with His word in our hearts we will have all the help that we need.  Isn't that encouraging?  To me, it really encourages me on my Christian journey.  I just need to keep His word in my heart and spend some time each morning in His word for the help I need for the day. God help us each one to remember to do that and the path will become a joy to walk instead of a burden.
