Promises from the Book of 1 Peter

This book was written by Peter the Disciple that denied he even knew Jesus at His trial.  But repented with deep sorrow when he realized what he had done to the One that gave His life for him.  I can imagine the feelings that Peter had even though he was warned, he still denied him because he didn't know his real heart feelings and who he really was.  Sometimes we don't know our own hearts and we can deny our Lord, by our words, actions and even a look.  I realized yesterday how vunerable I really am when it comes to my feelings towards other people.  I pray that God will make me like Jesus and I will love everyone regardless of their station in life.

1 Peter `:6-8  "In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love.  Though now you do not see Him yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory."

I know how hard it is to believe in something that we cannot see, but when we surrender our hearts to Christ, we receive abundant blessings that we can see and know from whom they come.  This is the joy inexpressible thats full of glory.  We can know that He is there and loves us because of the blessings He bestows upon us.  We probably don't realize the blessings come from God but even when we don't love Him, He still sends the rain and the sunshine which causes our gardens to flourish and the beautiful flowers that bloom in our yards. Our health that many times we take for granted. I could name hundreds of blessings that we receive even when our hearts are not with Him.  But there are so many more when our hearts are right with Him.

1 Peter 1:13  "Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ."

One of the greatest blessings that we receive is the power to overcome the sins in our life.  He gives us the power that is called grace and He forgives us because of His great mercy.

1 Peter 1:23  "Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God  which lives and abides forever."

This is how we are born again, THROUGH THE WORD OF GOD, that lives and abides forever.

This lesson has been so good for me.  With God's help, I will spend more time in His word and pray for the born again experience.  How about you? These promises are so powerful, I hope you see the power in them. To love God and receive His power, we must spend time in His word.  Grandma Joan
