Promises from the book of Psalm -1

We are going to delve into the book of Psalms for a while.  I love the Psalm and Proverbs.  So much instruction and so very many promises, I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do and even more.  Because the book of Psalm was written by David who had sinned greatly before the Lord, it should  give us hope for the forgiveness of our sin, not deliberate sin, but when we get caught by the devil unaware of what he is up to.  I have tried to stress that deliberate sin is a sin that was thought out before you did it.  They are forgiven too if we repent and are truly sorry that we did it but it's best not to presume upon God's forgiveness. He is a loving God and wants everyone in His kingdom but sadly it isn't going to be that way because we live in a selfish and crime infested world and to have peace we need to prepare for our future home in heaven and nothing sinful will enter there.

Psalm 1:1-3  "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law,  he meditates day and night.  He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."

This promise means so much to me and is such good direction for our life too.  We are blessed if we do not take counsel from the ungodly, or walk in the way of sinners, nor be scornful of others.  Our delight should be in God's law and we would do well to meditate on it day and night and we will be like a tree planted by rivers of water, you know how a tree grows that has lots of water, it's amazing, and whatever we do will prosper.  That is quite a promise, isn't it?

Psalm 4:8  "I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."

Psalm 9:9,10  "The Lord also will be a refuge in times of trouble.  And those who know your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you."

He is always our refuge when we seek Him with all our heart.

Psalm 9:12  last part.  "He does not forget the cry of the humble."

Humility is very important to God. It was the attribute of Jesus and He wants His followers to follow in His footsteps.

Psalm 10:17  "Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart;  You will cause Your ear to hear."

This is a great promise for the humble in heart.  Lord, please help me to have a humble heart that You would be pleased with.

Psalm 16:7,8  "I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel; My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.  I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved."

What strikes me here with this verse is the fact that the Bible is full of instruction which is counsel and if we spend time in it and even in the night I have received counsel.  If we make God our priority He will be at our right hand and we will not be moved away from His hand.  It would be good for us to find His counsel and follow it, wouldn't it?  I wonder why it is so hard to grasp His counsel and follow it?  I guess our life interferes with what is important and what will make our life here much easier.

Psalm 16:11  "You will show me the path of life; Your presence is the fullness of joy;  At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."

I think this is a good place to stop this study.  If we follow His path of life, we will have His presence with us and will have the fullness of joy and also have pleasures forevermore at our right hand.
What more could we ask for?  These promises are so beautiful and we could have them fulfilled in our life if we but wanted to. I truly do want them fulfilled in my life.  I know what I need to do, do you?
